I am so smart!

Okay, so I'm bragging, but me, myself, and I, put the crib together. All by myself. Ha. Well, Vince sort of helped at the end only a very tiny little bit. A really little bit. Really, only a very teeny, tiny, bit.
So now the crib and changing table are in! So's a bunch of office stuff, and sewing stuff, and knitting stuff, all over the floor of my new beautiful, nicely vacuumed carpet. Yes, it is a mess in there!
We got our shipment of cabinets for the home office this morning and now Vince needs to install them, so I had to move the stuff that was in the office out. It's never easy around here...
So today starts the countdown to where I can move the office/hobby stuff back into the home office.

Yippeee! Can a person be that excited about a rug?

Yes, yes they can. We picked up our rug today and rolled it into Ruby's room today. Finally I can put stuff in there! But before I do, I have to vacuum it right? Well, the vacuum bag was full so I had to go to the San Mateo Oreck store to get bags. Well, they weren't there any more, so I kept driving to another vacuum store in San Mateo and he said they were going out of business! EEEKK! I have this expensive vacuum and I can't get bags anymore! Well, I kept on driving, hoping the whole way that the San Bruno Oreck store was still there. Thankfully they were, and I finally bought a couple packs of bags. Oreck is not going out of business, the rent in San Mateo was too high and they shut down, and are looking for a new place.
So how far will you drive for a few vacuum bags? Bagless vacuum anyone?
So a simple "Yippee we have our carpet!" becomes a crazy chase for vacuum bags. Who knew?
So I guess the furniture will have to go in tomorrow...anyone know how to put together a crib?

So the wait continues...

Well, Sunny Knoll was not a good color. Vince did not approve. So back to Home Depot and I got Agave from Ralph Lauren. Much better. So now the paint is done, but we're now waiting for the rug. Once that goes in, so does the furniture! We can't wait. The garage is full of things, changing table, clothes, toys, crib, blankets...it's getting hard to find any room to walk in! (Many, many, many, thanks to Kitty...) While I'm waiting for the carpet, I'm pondering all the possible configurations of furniture in the room...

I finally spoke to our China facilitator today. (She was on vacation in Boston.) It seems that we shall wait another month before we get our match to a child. I say child because there is a very tiny possibility, even though we requested a girl, that we could be referred a boy. So a end of September referral means travel the end of November! And a very happy Thanksgiving to us!

So, slight change in plans but not a big deal, the weather is still good, not hot, not cold, and not crowded, so its all good, at least for traveling. And more time to get prepared since school is starting...EEEEEKKKKK!

Is It Really August Already?

Wow, the summer is blowing by real fast. Eek! We are s l o w l y moving the office and getting ready to paint the room. I've been sewing madly and enjoying being creative and such. Vince isn't quite enjoying the mess, but tough luck!
So off topic, but Desi ran across the street yesterday, while mom was visiting for dinner and picking grapes, and caught the biggest rat (next to the one that got stuck in the chicken wire like Winnie the Pooh) I'd ever seen. She dropped it in the middle of the intersection where it died. As I was holding Desi's collar, I noticed blood dripping from her mouth. The rat had bitten her lip! I hosed her off and called the vet. I just have to keep my eye on it (she's had her rabies shot already) I called Vince to tell him what he had missed and on the way home to look for the rat but the crows had already taken it away. At least mom had an entertaining evening at my house!
So back to the room. I will work on it today. I'll even get the paint today. Sunny Knoll from Kelly Moore.
